  • Overview

The growing competitive pressures of Globalisation will make it inevitable that BPM will become the enabling technology core of a new breed of process-driven global organisation. BPM products that embrace this will become more interoperable and scalable.

The gap that presently exists between business and IT strategy may finally be closed and business people at last will be able to take a more direct role in the shaping of their own business IT destinations.

While IT has historically automated business processes, therefore rendering them solid and immutable, business process management (BPM) promises to give businesses fluid control of their processes, allowing them to adapt and react to changes in their environment. But are BPM suppliers delivering on these promises, and are business users ready for that level of self determination?

Phil Jones talks to leading thinkers on this subject, including Jeff Kristick, director of product marketing at TIBCO; Peter Fingar, author of BPM: The Third Wave; and Janelle Hill, VP of Research at industry analysts, Gartner.
